Hello!

I just thought I would share a few samples straight from Stampin' UP!'s website with you! These actually came right out of the brand new catalog! I always love when the annual catalog comes out. There are so many new items to drool over and there are also so many adorable samples to admire.

Take this 6x6 scrapbook page for example:

This scrapbook page is featured on pg 190 of the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. It is part of a collection of coordinating products called the "Beau Chateau" product suite. You will find everything in this suite on pg 132 of the IB&C, from a designer album, to a pack of designer series paper, to fabric, stamps, and more!

This particular card is featured on pg 18 of the new IB&C as part of the a la carte selection. The stamp in question is called "Many Mustaches."

Most of our stamps come in coordinated sets, which are really great, but it is nice to have a few choices of little individual stamps to choose from, as well.

This card was made using one of our "Background" stamps called "Hello, Doily." For those of you not already familiar with these, the are stamps that are large enough to cover the entire front of a standard sized card! I love them! You can find this stamp on pg 127 and 150 of the IB&C. It is also part of one of our product suites called "Flirtatious." You can find all of these coordinating products on pg 126.

This card can be found on pg 205 of the IB&C. It is featuring our embossing folders that are used with the Sizzix Big Shot (the die-cutting machine that we carry...LOVE it!) . The stamped image you see is from a stamp set called "Daring Adventure," which is part of another product suite called "Well Worn." It is actually presented in a masculine way on pg 144 and you can see by this sample how versatile all of Stampin' UP!'s images can be!

And last for today, you will find this card and envelope on pg 182 of the IB&C. The stamp set used on the card is called "Elements of Style" and it also features one of our punches called "2 Step Bird.

A Birthday Card

Here is a card that I made for a friend for a friend for her birthday. :)

I used a retired set called BIG PIECES to create the background. I started with pink pirouette card stock as the card base, then I stamped the large circle with pretty in pink classic ink, then the large flower with melon mambo classic ink. I also used a retired flower die-cut to make the flower. Pretty simple card, but it was totally fun to make!

O.K. gals, today I'm giving you an itty bitty peek into my stamp room.......... I know you must be really excited! Haha! I love looking at pics of other people's craft rooms to see how they organize all their goodies. You never know what cool and creative storage solution you may find! But today, that is not what you are going to find. Today's post is a peek of my table after a scrapbooking session! Messy! Haha!

And here is a fun pic of my scraps.

As you all know, I am a demo for Stampin' UP! so, I have all my scraps in these drawers color coordinated by our Color Collections so I can easily find what color I need. Periodically, I have to go through them and get rid of all the smallest pieces I can find because the drawers get over-crowded, like the ones I am showing you here. :)

Hello.........Is anybody out there? Lol! I think I may be the world's worst blogger! It has been almost a year since I have updated my blog.......... :(

Between teaching school and being a procrastinator, I guess you can see why....

Anyway, I'm here to give it another shot. I have actually done several card classes lately and I have a few tutorials of some of those cards coming soon!

In the meantime....a little FYI.....Stampin' UP! has a great promo for August....

I actually completed a mini album in just two days worth of work. (Of course, this does not include photos and journaling, at this point.) I has a blast doing it! I feel such a great sense of accomplishment right now! I'm lovin' it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! (By the way, these are just of few of my fave pgs.)

I just wanted to let you know of a couple events I have planned for this month!

Saturday, January 24 - A new catalog open house at my stamp room! Come see the new catalog, make a couple of FREE projects and eat a muffin or two! Plus, I will have several Retired sets for sale!

Saturday, January 31 - Card Class #1 at Hobby Lobby in Cullman. This will be a continuing series of classes that runs for three months. Each month, you will make two each of four designs (8 cards per month). At the end of the three months you will have two each of twelve cards! The cool thing is, you can choose from the twelve, which four designs to make each month! The fee for this class is $20.

The dates for Card Classes 2 & 3 will be announced soon.

Elijah Posing and Several Samples

I wanted to post this the other day, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I've been too obsessed with uploading pictures to splitcoast. Doing the challenges is so fun and addictive! Plus it is really helping me use products that I usually just leave in the drawer. For instance, I used my Pretties Kit for the first time in a long time on a card and it turned out so pretty. Do you see the pearl in the center of the card?

These next two cards I did for a Sketch Challenge on splitcoast.

I thought it was just so cute when I was trying to take a picture of the card I did for Kristina Werner's color challenge from last week, when Elijah just walks up and poses with the card! How cute is that?! I know his hair isn't combed or anything, but....isn't that a sweet little face?!

This is a card I did using Michelle's (mom2jaben on splitcoast) Artfully Asian set. I copied ideas I've seen on a blog I've been tracking called Kiyomi Krafts I really like her style. I may have went a little overboard with the beads, but...oh well! Also, I don't know if you can tell that some of the flowers were stamped on a separate piece of white and cut out, then popped up with dimensionals!

This is just one version of a card I came up with, featuring the sneak peek set, "Fresh Cuts." I've done this same card in a couple other color combos, as well. On this particular one Groovy Guava is the card base, but it is just a quarter sheet (it does not open up). The white piece is the part that actually opens up! This is really not my favorite color combo, the where I used Not Quite Navy and Old Olive really hits the spot! I guess I never took pictures of that one! Maybe later.

This is just a card I made with some Ginger Blossom Designer Series paper I had cut up to use with the criss-cross card, but it didn't work out right, so I just made this card with it instead.

This is my version of the surprise pop-up card. Again, find the exact instructions under resources on splitcoast.

Just playing around with the emerging color technique. I bought this set (Fabulous Flowers) just for this techniqe, pretty much. It's a great set, though.

Madison decided she wanted to stamp with me this morning, so she got out HER stash of stamping supplies and got to work. This is what she made:

On this card she used her Stampin' Kids Markers and colored rainbows of color on the flowered petal from Pick A Petal. I told her how pretty it was and she was beaming! You should've seen the smile on her face when I told her how creative she was! I wish I had a picture of that! I just had to post her projects!

Happy "4th" Tutorial

Here is my very first tutorial. I hope you like it. If you do, go make one just like it! It is so easy!!

Supplies:

8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Brilliant Blue cardstock, folded in half to make a standard size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2, plus scrap
5" x 3 3/4" Whisper White cardstock, plus scrap
(3) 3/4" strips of Real Red cardstock
Brilliant Blue Classic Ink, plus marker
Real Red Classic Ink
Versamark pad
Chipboard star
Iridescent Ice embossing powder
Heat Tool
small piece of silver cord
1 long pc. and 2 short pcs. white grosgrain ribbon
sponge daubers
Crop-A-Dile
Stampin' Dimensionals
Tombow multi
Anywhere glue stick
Short Order Numbers (or any other number set, similar in size)
Holidays and Wishes stamp set
1 1/4" AND 1 3/8 " circle punches

Directions:
1. Fold your 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 sheet in half, making it a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card base.

2. Glue the 5 x 3 3/4 whisper white cardstock down to the base, leaving a 1/2" border.

3. Glue the 3 Real Red strips to the white layer and set aside for now.

(For some reason I cut mine just a bit too short, but I didn't have any more red to use. Really, there shouldn't be a gap, but hey, I'm freestylin', anything goes!)

4. With a sponge dauber, "paint" your chipboard star using Brilliant Blue Classic Ink. All you do is slip the cute little dauber onto your painting finger ;) dip it in the ink a couple of times, then rub onto the chipboard using circular motions. Repeat as many times as needed to get it completely covered (just on the top).

5. I took a few seconds to heat set mine so it would dry a little faster. You want it to be dry before moving on to the next step. If you wanted to use Craft ink, you could actually skip steps 5 and 6.
6. Cover the entire chipboard star with the Versamark pad.
7. Sprinkle Iridescent Ice embossing powder liberally over the entire chipboard star.
Note: This is what it looks like covered in the unmelted embossing powder.
8. Heat set it with the Heat tool to melt the embossing powder and this is what it should look like. When that is done use the Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the star using the 3/16" hole punch.
This is what the three pieces of ribbon should look like:
9. Using a sponge dauber and the Classic ink "paint" one of the small pieces of ribbon Real Red and the other small piece Brilliant Blue. Go ahead and paint both sides, unless you just prefer to only do one. I did both.

10. Next, take the longer white piece of ribbon and tie one knot around the hole in the chipboard star and hold it in place. (btw, sorry for the blurry picture)
11. Now lay the red and blue painted pieces of ribbon criss cross over the single white knot, then go ahead and tie the second knot. When you are finished tying, turn it over and glue the back side with Tombow multi and adhere to the card.

12. On your scrap piece of whisper white, stamp the #4 in Real Red ink, the "th" in Brilliant Blue ink, then the word "happy" using a Brilliant Blue stamp n' write marker to ink only the desired word and omitting the rest.

13. Punch it out using the 1 3/8" circle punch.
14. On your Brilliant Blue scrap, punch a hole using the 1 1/4" punch, then with the 1 3/8" punch a hole around the outside of the first circle creating a "rim."

(I really hope this part makes sense! Maybe you can tell by looking at the picture!)

These are the two pieces you will have:
15. Glue the blue "rim" you created to the white piece, punch a hole using the 1/8" hole punch and thread your silver cord through. Now all you have to do is add two Stampin' Dimensionals (stack them on top of each other to make it high enough) to the back of this tag and stick it to the rest of the card.Ta-Da!!! All done! Wasn't that easy?!Here is a variation:
(This is actually the original one that I made, but when I decided to do a second one and do the tutorial with it I changed colors. Which one do you like the best?)
Well, I guess that does it for my very first tutorial. Tell me what you think! Am I a professional now??? Haha!

If you don't have these colors or embellishments, play around with it and make it all your own!

Template Tuesday!

O.K. I think I am going to attempt to do something that will either be totally cool or totally dorky! Haha!
I hope everyone reading this has the "Cool" opinion. I keep visiting these blogs that have catchy names for their posts and they do it on the same day of the week every week so their followers will know when to check.

Mine is Template Tuesday! I am using templates off of Stampin' Up's website and sharing them with you! These are so simple anyone can do it! You just take this simple layout and make it fit you-change the colors if you like or the images, but this can be your starting point. Hopefully this will help you if you want to make something, but don't know where to start. It takes a lot of the guess-work out of it! Good luck and go make a card!

Another Baby Card

Here is the second card that I made for a friend whose sister just had quadruplets! I got the idea from a sample in the current mini catalog and just changed it a little to fit what I needed. The card base is going gray , the other colors are regal rose, wild wasabi, and either so saffron or barely banana (I can't remember now!). The "b" is done with a sticky cuts letter and dazzling diamond glitter. I just adhered it to the cardstock, added the glitter , then trimmed around the letter. I love the sticky cuts letters! They are so cool! Hope you enjoy!!

Here is a card I made as a sample last summer. It is using a set called Pick a Petal. It has several different petals you can use to customize the look of your flower. It is really more versatile than you would think. People make all kinds of other things with the petal besides just flowers. Accessories: Vintage Brads, Purely Pomegranate Satin ribbon. (The Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon was part of a promotion during the holidays. I really like it! I hope they bring it back!)

C.A.S.E FILES

OK, I have been spending way too much time on the internet looking at samples lately. I start out on splitcoast and from there I have been finding all these stampers have their own blogs, too. So, I start out looking at a sample, click on a link to their blog, then on another link to someone else's blog and then again.....you get the picture, right? Well, there are a lot of cool ideas out there! So I am going to start copying them and maybe it will get my creative juices flowing. One of the things I have noticed is that some ladies have certain features that they post on a regular basis.

For example:
* www.kwernerdesigns.com does a MACM (make a card monday). She is a very good stamper and her tutorials look very professional. They are video tutorials, and are also on You Tube.

*http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ is a natural artist (by this I mean with no formal training), but her samples show how creative she is. She also has several fascinating tutorials, mostly using the brayer. The brayer can give some very cool affects. Here are a couple of cards I made after seeing her tutorials....

I don't know when Stampin' Up! started the philosophy of Copy And Share Everything (C.A.S.E), but I take it very seriously! You can get way more accomplished when you are duplicating something than having to come up with it all on your own! So I am going to attempt to do something slightly fun! I am going to start posting C.A.S.E. FILES. A while back I went through my catty and marked several samples that I thought would be easy to copy AND/OR were appealing to me in some way or another. I will post the samples as C.A.S.E. FILE #....
This will be my code so you can find the exact original in the catalog:

IBC = Idea Book and Catalog (this will be followed by the date on the cover)
SS = Spring/Summer (IBC)
FW = Fall/Winter (IBC)
OM = Ocassions Mini Catalog
P = page # (this will be followed by the number for the page)

....I guess this is good enough to get it started....I will put a legend on the side of my blog so you can refer to it a lot easier and I will add to it as more catalogs come out.

Four Monkeys Card

A friend of mine called one day and asked if I could make her a couple cards for her sister who is having quadruplets. She said all the cards in the store were for one baby or twins and she wanted it to be more fitting. The card I gave her was similar to this, in that it had four little monkeys on it, but the layout is a little different. This card was made out of the leftovers I had from playing around trying to figure her card out. The stamp set are Zoofari and Lots of Thoughts (SAB 08)

Which one do you like best?

I was making these cards the other day and decided to do the corners around the bird a little different. Which one do you like best?

On the bird, I did a short cut I found on splitcoaststampers.com....
Since I don't have a black craft ink pad, I just used black classic ink and dipped it in an old versamark pad that was already dirty then stamped it on the white cardstock. After that I embossed it with clear embossing powder. I just used my blender pens and classic inks to color in the designs at the bottom. You could get the same look by just using black embossing powder, as well. Hope you enjoy looking! ~Kristy

Stamping Tutorials On-Line

I was playing around trying to fix up my blog a little bit and I added a video roll. I typed in Stampin' Up! as my subject, and to my surprise several videos came up! Check them out over there on the left column. These videos are from You Tube, so I went to You Tube and searched for more tutorials and I was happy to find several. (I am only allowed to have four on here.) Now I have stayed up way too late looking at them. I also found another demonstrator's blog that I think is very good. Her vids are on You Tube, as well, and her samples on Splitcoaststampers.com. This weblog is called kwernerdesign.com/blog and her splitcoast and You Tube user name is starofmay. She is very good. I think you'll like her!

Card Swap

Every month at our club meetings, we do a card swap. The ladies that choose to participate make a set amount of cards and then at the party we swap them! That way you leave with one of each! It's really neat to see what people come up with! Here are a few samples.

The pink friendship card is from Rachael, the black and pink butterfly card is from Jennifer, the pink with black thank you card is from Alicia, the paisley happy birthday card is from Judy (mom), the blooming with happiness card is from Jennifer too, and the noble deer card is from Tammy. Didn't they do a good job?

Stamp Club

I started a Stamp Club a while back and we are a little over halfway through our second year! A lot of the same ladies have done it both times, but we do have some new ones too! I think it is a lot of fun! We get together and learn new techniques and stamp a project. Right now we are back to focusing on Scrapbooking. We are going to do an 8 1/2 x 11 Calendar Scrapbook. We will do a page for each month of the year plus a front and back page. We already did a front and back page at last month's party. This month we will be doing the January and February pages. We are using the following Stampin' Up! sets: Calendar, Calendar Cues, and Full Calendar. These are the basics sets we will be using for the pages. Each month I will still highlight a technique and we will most likely use that technique on that month's page, therefore there will be other sets that I will combine with these mentioned here. I am really excited! I think everyone will enjoy this and in a few months we will have a completed book! How cool is that?!

Splitcoast Stampers

A great website to go to for thousands of samples using Stampin' Up! products is www.splitcoaststampers.com. Not everything on the site is SU!, but most of it is.

There are several ways to look at samples:
1. On the home page about halfway down you can click on a link that says "view all of today's additions" and see everything that has been posted recently.
2. Or you can click on the gallery link at the top of the page and from there you can look up a SU! set alphabetically.
3. Another option is to look at a user gallery. If you see a sample you like, you can look through that user's gallery by clicking on their user name and a drop down list will appear and just choose their gallery from the options.

Also, you can click on the Resources link at the top of the page for tons of cool techniques! Every Wednesday (or whenever they get to it) they add a new technique!
This site also has forums if you are interested in talking with other stampers across the country! You can ask a question if you are having a problem, or you can just chime in on an interesting subject, or you can just read what everyone else has to say!
There are daily challenges for you to participate in, if you wish. In order to participate in this you will need to register (which is free). You can find all the details on the site!

I must admit that it can be very addictive! It's lots of fun! So, go check it out and let me know what you think about it!

Here are a few samples to look at!

These are a few samples I made a while back. A lot of the ideas are c.a.s.e.d. (which means Copy And Share Everything). The brown and pink giraffe card is a window card. You'll notice the front and inside pictures. The green giraffe card has a window on it as well, just in a different place...the moon and stars are peeping through! The pink and purple smile card was made by clear embossing (in this case I used a wheel) on the bottom of the card then sponging around the area with white craft ink and sponge daubers and again with the purple, just not covering as much area. This makes it "pop" a little more.
